Incidental cardiovascular abnormalities detectable on LDCT images include coronary artery calcification and aortic disease, and respiratory abnormalities include emphysema, pleural effusion, reticular opacities, and fibrosis. 1, 2 LDCT scanning can also detect non-lung cancer-related (incidental) abnormalities, primarily of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, along with non-lung neoplasms such as thyroid and renal cancers.
